This trip was the day after a huge tsunami spawned by the magnitude-8.9 quake—one of the largest ever recorded—rocked Japan’s eastern coast, killing hundreds of people, according to the Associated Press.

Friday, I called ZestAir to confirm if it’s safe to travel by air, funny co’z the agent asked me why I asked if it is safe? I said, there was a tsunami 30mins ago, and she was really shocked! There were no reported about it, so it means our trip wasn’t canceled.

March 12, 2011

We went to the Domestic Terminal at 3am, our flight schedule was 4:20am. At exactly 6:15am we reached Davao International Airport. There were taxis and vans for hire, we know that will cost much so we walked out of the airport till we reach the highway and rode a jeepney to Jollibee (very unique fastfood huh!) to eat breakfast that cost us P160.

After that, we rode another jeepney going to Down Town then we get off to C.M. Recto Ave. corner of Uyanguren. We had our early check-in, we took a P400/day room. We’re not looking for an expensive accommodation, we only have 2days of fun in the City so we will be out most of the time.

We took a nap first, at exactly 10am, we rode a jeepney to NCCC Mall (New City Commercial Corporation) to meet our good friend Ying Udarbe. We ate lunch at Penong’s, like Mang Inasal they serve pork and chicken barbecue on a stick.

Activity #1: Davao Crocodile Park

Address: Riverfront, Corporate City, Diversion Highway
Ma-a, Davao City 8000 Philippines

We started our trip to Davao Crocodile Park. For only P150/head you will witness different kinds of animals and if you are lucky like us, you will be given a chance to watch a bird show.

I enjoyed the animals so much, specially the cow with extra limb :)

Activity #2: Idsil Sutukil (buffet for only P99)

Who wouldn’t like it? for only P99 you’ll have your unlimited Sutukil, but hep! wait! No left over please… so you should get what you think you can eat, besides you can go back whenever you want another plate.

Three weeks before the flight, I am desperately looking for two persons who can join us, I had invited several couples and friends to come along us, because Jeylan and Nina, can’t go with us because of several fake reasons (hehe! Just kiddin!). So nobody joined us. It’s a very sad truth. But nobody can stop us from going there, especially me. I’ll start my story from Jan 14, 2011,…
