Again with my best buddies and my boyfriend Mel Galima, we went here last May 1-2, 2010 by a Victory Liner bus at PhP950/head, our trip was at 930am. Potipot Island is in Zambales which is on the west coast of the main island of Luzon facing the South China Sea.
It is roughly 235 kms north of Manila. There are no resorts or any accommodation on the island but there are number of resorts on the beach overlooking Potipot Island.
We reach Uacon, Candelaria at 3pm. Every hotel was fully booked so we decided to look for other option. We asked some bankeros if they know any room where we can just put our bags, luckily one of the bankero, Mang Bert (09392960124) allowed us to use one of his room, he stayed with his family, we can also use their plates, gasera (flambeau or lamp), banig (mattings) etc. In return, we will hire Mang Bert to take us to Potipot Island.
We decided to tour the place and look for a place where we can eat. We saw this restaurant floating on Uacon Lake, the cleanest lake in Central Luzon.
We ordered sinigang and pinakbet, It was awesome and cheap, we paid everything we ate for only PhP450.
After eating, we rode a tricycle going market at PhP200 back and fort. We bought rice, pork meat, chicken and hotdogs for barbecue party and of course the night wouldn’t complete without alcohol
Mang Bert’s wife volunteered herself to cook for us, she made adobong chicken and pork and kanin (rice). We told them to get the half of the food, it’s another way of saying thank you. They provided everything we need, even the gasoline for our barbecue trip. We reached Potipot at 9pm, Jeylan, and Joemar started the fire while me and Nina, prepared the hotdogs and pork meat and Memel prepared the booze.
After the barbecue party and dinner we swam but sad to say there were tiny insects in the water so we decided to go back to our cottage. You don’t have to worry where to pee or poo because there are comfort and shower rooms at the center of the island.
We slept on the seaside, we used our mattings, the temperature was warm and calm.
We woke up at dawn.
Water was really calm that time, I took a shot of Joemar doin’ his ninja pose
I love the clear water…
Mang Bert came at 11am, we cleaned our place and make sure that we had everything in the boat. While leaving the Potipot I took a shot of it’s natural beauty.
We reached Uacon after 15 minute boat ride, we took a bath and get ready to leave. We gave Mang Bert PhP1,500
I don’t know why the sand in Uacon is dark brown, while Potipot is white.
I took a last shot of Uacon Beach
We had our 145pm bus trip going to Manila.
It was awesome! Hoping for Anawangin trip someday
